Do you know that meditation is one of the most beneficial acts when it is done during the full moon as it is one of the powerful methods of service to humanity and mother earth? During meditation, our minds become a channel to receive energies of the divine light, love and power where they are later distributed to a family, community and further to the whole of humanity.
And during the moment of the full moon each month, it offers the greatest opportunities for meditation by not only to cultivate personal benefits but also to take part in the manifestation of the Divine Plan on earth. While any time of the year is good for meditation and people who are ready and available may tap into the energies of the divine, there also exists energy cycles that make this easier and more powerful – and one of these instances is during a full moon.
That said, full moons have magnifying effects and have been known throughout history where evidence can be found in folklore literature as well as many spiritual textbooks. However, the moon itself does not have much influence on creating the energetic circle, but the fully-lighted orb of the moon indicates a free and unimpeded alignment of the earth and the sun, the solar centre, the energy source for all life on earth. And at such times, it is when we can make a definite approach to God, the Creator, the Universe, the centre of life and intelligence.
Hence, full moons are known to be sacred times for spiritual practices in many ancient religions and cultures. In fact, it is believed that full moon is both a time of crisis and a time of opportunity. And because of the amplifying effects on earth and its people, it has been observed by generation that whatever activity is being done during the full moon will be enhanced in effect and intensity.
Moreover because of the moon’s astrological characteristics and effects on mind and emotions, often during the full moon period, people may get more sensitive and often witness more emotional and relationship issues as compared to non-full moon period of the year. This may be one of the reasons why insanity is also called lunacy.
That said, one of the means to nullify such effects during the full moon is by practicing meditation and purification. At the same time, meditating during the full moon has been recommended from long time ago where it can help us harness the amplifying effects of the full moon for greater spiritual activities and helping the earth.

And besides the calming and uplifting effects of meditation, which can effectively neutralize negative effects of the full moon, many other benefits can be cultivated through meditation such as:
Deeper Purification:
In general, meditation helps to active the crown chakra and bring down greater amount of divine energy into the system which gets even stronger during the periods of the full moon. Divine energy basically has consciousness of its own and therefore gradually flushes out negative thoughts, emotions and energies from the meditator’s aura and the chakras. The effect does not only improve physical health and emotional health but also gives clarity of mind, better self-esteem and greater peace and happiness.
Fun fact: It is to believe that the different phases of Lord Gautama Buddha’s life and
development happened during the period of a full moon.
Greater Spiritual Experiences:
To gain spiritual experiences, the body, mind and emotions must first be relatively calm. Hence, it is good to prepare the body and mind before meditating which is normally done in groups before the full moon meditation begins. Meanwhile, spiritual energy is needed to raise the consciousness and develop the ability to fly in the inner world.
And during the full moon meditation, especially if it is done in a group, more divine energies will flow to the meditators thereby making it easier to have experiences that may be difficult to have solo meditation sessions on other times of the year.
Faster Manifestation of Wishes:
To manifest a wish or materialize a plan, we must stuff it with enough energy – wish or plan is a thought form created by us that has a shape, clarity and lifespan. And in order to increase its potency and lifespan, we need to stuff the thought form with energy. Upon completing a full moon meditation, if the written wish or plan gets energized or blessed by the practitioners individually or by the group, it will become a powerful and longer lasting thought form that has greater power to influence the physical world. Hence, the result is normally faster manifestation of wishes and plans.
Greater Chance for World Service:
Full moon is basically one of the opportunities for world service as when people of good will and the will to do good come together and meditate, they will become channels to receive and bring down divine energies of light, love, and power and pass them onto every person and being on earth.
And when divine energies are directed to humanity and the earth, especially people in need and areas affected by wars and natural or man-made calamities, they can bring about relief, peace and upliftment. During the full moon period, it will be the greatest opportunities of world service that is given to groups of men and women of good will to become active channels to help people who are in need and help to manifest the Divine Plan.
Spiritual Empowerment:
During the full moon, plenty of divine energies enter the body through the spiritual cord which acts as a communication channel between the person and the divine. And when the body is filled with spiritual energy, the size of energy channels also known as meridians or nadis, get thicker to allow more energy to circulate in a faster rate. Divine energy also cleanses and activates the chakras. This effect is called spiritual empowerment.
Upon the size of the energy body and diameter of the chakras increase, we will be empowered. Chakras affect us physically, psychologically and spiritually. Once chakras get bigger, we will notice improvement in various parts of life.
Energy Anchoring:
Meditation if done in any place, it will anchor the divine energies that have been brought down in that place. Especially in a group setting and during the time of a full moon, the effects are amplified. And through meditation, the place will be blessed with positive energies of divine light, love, power, peace, joy and compassion.
Recharged Body:
Divine energy when received by the meditator, it will get absorbed by the energy body and the chakras, transforming their quality and improving their functions. The divine energy, because of its colour and quality have a lot of healing power. When our bodies absorb it, it brings about greater physical health for the body. Hence, divine energy helps to increase the immunity and defence mechanism, which will then help the body to fight infection and various diseases in a better and more effective way.
Additionally, the increased rate of energy circulation in the energy channels and chakras will also result in a more recharged body.
