Top 5 Perfect Holiday Gifts for Meditation and Mindfulness

It really smells like Christmas, because in almost every shopping centre and in every street we are on, there is a whiff of Christmas in the air.

The Christmas season is also a wonderful reminder to call upon our inner soul and think of our friends and loved ones. And if you are thinking of doing something special for them or even for yourself, buying a gift can be appropriate for the occasion.

Here we have listed the 5 best Christmas gifts for meditation and mindfulness that are also meaningful and self-transforming!

As the year draws to a close, it helps to receive or purchase a gift that will fuel your meditation and mindfulness journey to recharge your inner soul for the year ahead. Here are our top 5 favourite meditation aids that will inspire you to be fully present and enjoy the moment.

Take a look below.

1. Meditation Cushion

If the thought of sitting motionless for long periods of time – often longer than 10 minutes – makes your bones ache, you are not alone. A meditation cushion is a great addition to your developing or already established meditation practice, because sitting still in any position can lead to pain and discomfort. With a meditation cushion, your hips will be lifted, allowing them to roll forward slightly and maintaining the natural curve of your lower back. The rest of your body will naturally follow once your spine is in proper alignment.

Many people still use the traditional round meditation cushion because it is so comfortable.

However, the design of meditation cushions has changed over time. The Halfmoon Zafu, a design with a distinct half-moon shape that supports your thighs and gives you room to rest your ankles close to your torso, is one of the varieties available today.

Regardless of the design, we advise you to choose a pillow filled with a material that adapts to the shape of your body and promotes air circulation.

2. Personal Journal

It can be very useful to keep a meditation journal to establish the practice in your daily life and to raise your awareness of all the elements of your experience. The benefits of meditation are abstract; you can only “feel” them, not see them. For this reason, keeping a meditation notebook can help you keep track of your successes and growth while meditating each day.
By allowing yourself to visualise your development and review your efforts and realization with each page you fill out, it will add some powerful and useful components to your meditation practice. Also, using a pen already helps you slow down and be present in the moment.

3. Meditation Beads

If you meditate or practise yoga regularly, you’ve undoubtedly used mala beads.

Mala beads are a type of prayer bead also known as a japa mala or simply a mala. From Catholicism to Hinduism, prayer beads have been used for thousands of years in various religions.

Today, they’re occasionally used as a tool for mindfulness, regardless of religion. In addition to a guru bead, which is larger than the other beads and often contains a tassel, they usually contain 108 beads.

You can use mala beads for various parts of meditation, which is associated with a number of health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, improving sleep, and reducing stress levels.

Many people find it difficult to control their thoughts and not get distracted, especially at the beginning of their meditation practise. This is where the mala beads come in.

A mala can support meditation in two different ways: By touching each bead as you recite a mantra, you can keep track of how many times you’ve said the mantra, and you can anchor yourself by the repetitive motion of your fingertips over the beads.

4. Self-realization Books

Enlighten yourself with a good reading of some of the most amazing books that explain the essence of life so profoundly and shared by ancient sages and authors of awakening can be really helpful. What we are currently experiencing is nothing new, and these sages and masters have lived through the challenges of life, and from reading their books we will learn how to overcome them. Above all, it is about understanding and realizing the nature of things and the essence of life. So in this season of giving, why not give one of these books to a loved one or even to yourself to end the year and start the new year with wisdom, love and light.
